[Hearing from him comes as a surprise. After the things she said — though Vasran supposes it could have been worse — she'd expected him to want nothing to do with her.]
I was happy to take part. [And that's honest enough.] Success would've made a difference to mages everywhere.
[She's being terse, now, uncertain of how much she wishes to engage with him.
But. Adelaide's advice comes back to her. Be bold. She will get nowhere in the Inquisition if she remains as silent and small as she has been.]
Everyone will be better off if that spirit can be banished. [Yourself included is the unspoken subtext.] To be honest, I'm a little surprised that you would thank me, considering the way I stormed into your tent.
You helped. You're short-sighted, wanting to trade away freedom for shallow, temporary security in the Circles that can and will vanish in a moment at the whim of a Templar, but you did assist.
[His voice is calm, and he's a little surprised by that. Justice isn't angry at her. Is it because she's on the younger side? It's possible.]
And if you, and others, keep wanting some sort of control, some sort of captivity, then that needs to be accommodated for in a way that does not require the rest of us to be caged and abused again. I want to see all mages to have chances at a life of their choosing. ...All mages save those who require the rest to suffer for their own comforts and power, like Vivienne. But the point is that if there's a group that seeks that, there will need to be a setup for both groups.
[The winds comment gets ignored. He hadn't even been key there. That was Fiona.]
I don't expect someone to apologize for finding a means of survival in there. What I expect is for mages to get their heads straight and not drag everyone around them back into cages. If you're afraid of what you are and what you can do, [then it breaks his heart,] then seeking control for yourself is entirely different from seeking it for everyone.
If training would help you, though, I can make time for that. I'd find it a very worthwhile goal to help with.
[He looks down for a moment before shaking his head.]
It was far from the same for everyone. So many suffered, while some felt safe. So many vanished because the Templars got carried away having 'fun' or giving in to anger or just didn't like someone. You lost your home, but keeping that home would have meant more lost their lives.
[Anders exhales.]
I'm sorry that you were torn from somewhere you felt safe. But I can't be sorry about the rest. The comfort of some did not justify the cruelty and abuses heaped on others.

Date: 2016-07-12 02:40 am (UTC)You think that's what I'm afraid of?
I fought against Templars in the Hinterlands. I feared their blades and their power to dispel magic, not my fire.

Date: 2016-07-20 01:15 am (UTC)Because it was my home. I was raised there, I was taught by mages I trusted. I felt safe.
I -- maybe it wasn't the same for everyone. But I know what I lost.
...I lost this notif somehow, I'm sorry.
